Marion Eileen Bourque Evans Friday August 13th 2021

Bourque, Eileen 1945 – 2021
With great sadness the family announce the death of Eileen Bourque at the age of 76 years. Eileen passed away at Temiskaming Hospital Friday, August 13, 2021 following a brief and courageous battle with cancer.
Eileen was born at North Cobalt April 27, 1945 to the late Edward Evans and the late Hazel Brown. Marion Eileen Evans was very much a tomboy so she decided to use her middle name as it was not so “girly”. From an early age she enjoyed the outdoors and playing sports. Always up for an adventure she left home at the age of 16 to go to the big City of Brampton. She got a job at a shoe factory where she met and became smitten with a young man from Nova Scotia. They fell in love and moved to BC. They married in Victoria then moved to Ucluelet. After their first child came along, Eileen was homesick so they moved back to Brampton, then to North Cobalt where they had their second child. She decided to stay home to raise the children until they were older. Even as a married woman and mom, Eileen still had the adventurous tomboy spirit. She would take her kids through the bush looking for treasures and in the winter she built igloos to play in. As a family the four of them spent all summer camping and fishing at Bucke Park or travelling to the east to spend time with relatives. Later in life, being in the bush was still something she loved as they built a cabin off the grid (where they lived for over 10 years). Family and friends were always welcome to drop in anytime, there was always an extra plate set out just in case. She worked various jobs early in life then decided to go back to school in 1984 to get a Health Care Aid diploma from Northern College. She immediately joined the team at Temiskaming Lodge where she stayed for 9 years. In 1993 she decided to go back to school to the Versailles Academy in Ottawa, where she received a diploma for a Professional Foot Care Technician and opened her own business (Eileen’s Footcare & Hygiene Service), having only retired 3 years ago. Having no biological grandchildren, she treated all nieces/nephews as if they were, spoiling them with treats and going on expeditions on her bush property. She became very close to Christopher, Josh, Kayla, Deven, Alexandra and Nicole. And to Roxanne, the daughter of a good friend who affectionately called her grandma. She was a very stubborn woman but when the time came, she humbly accepted help from Dwayne, Helen, Ward, Brice, Nolan, Kevin and especially Wayne. She will be remembered for her hugs, laughter, honesty, giving advice or just simply being a shoulder to cry on.
She was predeceased by her parents, her son Kenneth James Bourque in 1996 and by her siblings: Donald [late Doreen] Evans, Harold Evans, Betty [Ron Carruth], Gordon [late Lois] Evans and Norman [late Donna] Evans. Left to mourn is her
loving husband René Bourque and her daughter Rena Bourque both of North Cobalt. Also survived by her sisters: Judy Evans of New Liskeard and Phyllis [Wilbert] Cowton of Haileybury. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
In keeping with her wishes, cremation will take place at Lakeview Crematorium – Haileybury. A memorial gathering will take place at a later date. Memorial contributions to Community Cancer Care will be gratefully acknowledged. Condolences and memorial contributions may be left at www.buffamleveille.com.
