Marilyn Kathleen Clancey
February 11, 1966 – July 29, 2021

The family of Marilyn Kathleen Clancey are deeply saddened to announce her passing. In her 56th year she succumbed to a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. She was born in Halifax to Anne (Cogan) and Stephen Clancey on February 11, 1966. She was the big sister to Stephen (Linda) and Ryan (Tara). She leaves behind her husband Wayde (Lively) and sons, Justin and Brandon (Donna) of Middle Sackville.
The last 15 months were very hard, but Marilyn was overjoyed to spend time with her cherished grandchildren, Owen and Chloe and most recently, Harvey and Winter-Rae. Her everlasting love will be with them forever.
She was also the “coolest” aunt to Alex , Sydni, Ian, Erin and Anna. Auntie M, was there for them, without judgement! With nieces & nephews came wonderful times with her sister-in-laws (sista’s); Linda, Tara & Terry-Ann. She was always up for a great dinner cooked by her favourite chef & brother-in-law, Derrick Jardine.
She is pre-deceased by her grandparents Bill and Gladys Cogan, Arthur and Kathleen Clancey and in-laws Harvey and Helen Lively. She is pre-deceased by her grandparents Bill and Gladys Cogan, Arthur and Kathleen Clancey and in-laws Harvey and Helen Lively.
Marilyn was educated in Halifax schools attending Halifax West High School, Mount Saint Vincent University and Miss Murphy’s Business College. She was a member of the Halifax Trojans Swim Club and was an avid figure skater, logging many hours at the rink. She was honored to have been a part of supervising camps with Halifax City Recreation for children with disabilities. Over these years many summer months were spent in North Sydney and Prince Edward Island visiting family.
In 1988 Marilyn began her career in Planning and Development for the City of Halifax as a development controller. Sadly, she was in her retirement year when she fell ill. She was always well respected by co-workers and clients alike and could be counted on for lending a helping hand, a smile, or a laugh. It was here she met the love of her life, Wayde. They had an extened engagement were married at the Little White Chapel in Las Vegas, Nevada. Sadly, Elvis was working the drive thru that day & did not perform the honors!
Marilyn and Wayde built a wonderful home and life in Middle Sackville with her stepson Brandon. In 1999, they were blessed with the addition of their baby boy Justin. Marilyn was a devoted mom and quickly became his biggest cheerleader & her infectious humor could be heard in the stands for hockey & lacrosse, around the Maritimes! She was a huge Montréal Canadians fan and enjoyed the trips to Montréal and New York to see live games.
In the years to follow, Marilyn enjoyed spending endless hours in their beautiful backyard, serving margaritas and enjoying laughs with family and friends.
The family want to give a special thank you to the all the doctors, nurses and caregivers for helping in her journey. A special thanks to everybody at Halifax Hospice for providing a peaceful setting in her final days. Internment has taken place, and arrangements are with Dartmouth Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice Halifax. hospicehalifax.ca/
