Obituary of Marie MacLean
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Marie Katherine MacLean (nee Litt) on December 4th, 2021 at Kelso Pines Retirement Home. Marie was born on October 23rd, 1929 in Hanover, Ontario. As a young woman, she married Garfield James MacLean on November 4th, 1948. They raised their family in Owen Sound and lived there for over 70 years. Marie enjoyed knitting, cooking, and walking in the natural beauty of the Niagara Escarpment.
Marie is survived by her children, Larry David MacLean (Jaye Wigston), Linda Marie Hammond (Larry Hammond), and Katherine Louise MacLean (Jack Nahrgang). Marie is predeceased by her husband Garry James MacLean and their youngest son James Cameron MacLean. Marie will be dearly missed by five grandchildren, Miranda (daughter of Larry), Erin and Keith (daughter and son of Linda), Charla and Christine (daughters of Cameron). Marie’s three great-grandchildren held a special place in Marie’s heart: Shawn, Theodore, and Clementine.
The staff of Kelso Pines is commended for their kindness and attention to Marie and all residents; Marie particularly commented upon the lovely Christmas decorations.
A family-only memorial service will be held in the spring to commemorate Marie’s life. Memorial donations to the Owen Sound Legion Branch 6 Poppy Fund would be appreciated and can be made through the Brian E. Wood Funeral Home, Owen Sound, 519-376-7492, www.woodfuneralhome.ca.
