Marie Louise Aucoin
June 4, 2021
It is with sadness that we announce the death of Marie Louise Aucoin, 75, of Chéticamp, which occurred on Friday, June 4th, 2021 at the Sacred Heart Community Health Centre, Chéticamp. Born in Chéticamp on April 28,1946, she was the daughter of the late Willie A. Boudreau and Mathilda (Poirier) Boudreau.
Marie Louise was a hard worker, working at Robin Jones grocery and department store for over 25 years. When the store closed, she then worked at Chéticamp Packers processing plant followed by Le Centre de Mi-Careme until her retirement. Co-workers will say she worked hard but made them laugh and made work go so much faster. Marie Louise was a very special person making friends wherever she went. She loved to have visitors in her home and she and her husband Paul Emile made them feel welcomed and their door was always open for a cup of tea, a good chat, or a place to lay your head. She was always the life of the party and made us laugh with stories and jokes in her own particular way. For over 45 years, they welcomed the mi-careme in their home. Their house was known to be a place to get some good laughs, fun times, and the food offered was over and above what was expected by the ones who were running mi-careme from house to house, and those trying to guess them. She so much looked forward to it. It was her favorite time of year. She loved going out to listen to music, concerts and performances. Many a time she would be seen at the Doryman, on Saturday afternoons listening to fiddle music, and other evening performances. She loved to see young musicians and performers and tried to support them in their endeavours. She enjoyed a good game of cards, and a nice evening of bingo. Marie Louise was a true compassionate person. You just needed to let her know, and she was there helping in any capacity she could. She did palliative care, took care of the sick and the elders, cooked or baked for events, always ready to help family and friends. Many deeds went unnoticed as she never wanted to be in the spotlight. The last few years proved hard on her body as her failing health made doing what she loved the most, a bit harder or not as inviting. She spent the last months in and out of hospital but was always cheerful and always thanked all who helped her, especially the ones who travelled to make sure she was not alone when she was away for her health care. Special thanks to the doctors, nurses and all health care professionals who helped her during her illness. She was blessed to have such caring people to take care of her.
She is survived by her brother Clarence (Albertine) Boudreau, Chéticamp; brothers-in-law, David Aucoin, Joseph Henri (Gloria) Aucoin, Roger (Betty) Aucoin; sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Aucoin, Lena (Gerald) LeBlanc, Bonnie Boudreau. She is also survived by her special niece and godchild, Erica Boudreau, and godson, Roy Aucoin; special friends, Lina Poirier and Marie Alice (Roger) Lefort; and many more special cousins and close friends. She was predeceased by her father, Willie (1983); mother, Mathilda (2001); husband, Paul Emile (2016); brother, Alphonse (2004); brother-in-law Pierre Aucoin (1997).
As per her wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral mass. A family graveside service will be held once Covid restrictions allows us to gather. Father Pierre Antoine St Cyr will officiate. Donations may be made to the Sacred Heart Hospital Charitable Foundation or a charity of your choice.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Marie Louise Aucoin June 4 2021..
