Maria Graf (nee Ruff)
It is with profound sadness that our family announces the passing of our dear Mother, Grandmother & Great-Grandmother, Maria Graf on Friday, July 30, 2021. Maria was born on January 22, 1923 in the small town of Mor, Hungary & was 98 years old when the Lord called her home. She lived a full life in Toronto and then Stoney Creek. She is predeceased by her beloved husband Stephen (1998) & two brothers, Stephen & Frank Ruff. Maria is survived by her three sons, Joseph (Loriann) of Stoney Creek, Michael (Kumiko) of Belmont, Massachusetts & Stephen (Margaret ) of Burnaby, British Columbia. She will be dearly missed by her 6 grandchildren, Christina (Rene), Matthew (Jennifer), Emi, Stephen (Michelle), Alex (Rebecca), Ian (Melissa). Beloved Great-Grandma of Claire, Rohin, Ravi, Adam, Ava, Ella, August, Eli, Ara, Isaac & Noah. Maria moved into Amica, Stoney Creek in 2019 & cherished her time there with her friends & the kind caregivers who looked after her. We wish to thank Dr. Daniel Brandt-Vegas (St. Joseph’s Hospital) who treated our Mom with dignity & respect for many years. Joe & Lori also wish to thank the dedicated team of nurses & doctors of St. Peter’s Hospital, 3West who showed such compassion as they cared for Maria in her final days.
Visitation will be held at P.X. Dermody Funeral Home, Upper Gage Avenue on Wednesday, August 4th, 2-4 p.m. & 7-9 p.m. with prayers at 7:30 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be on Thursday, August 5th at 10 a.m. at St Luke’s Catholic Church on Mount Albion Road. Burial will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial donations be made to St. Luke’s Parish, 200 Mount Albion Road, Hamilton. Anyone wishing to attend the visitation or funeral mass must RSVP either on the funeral home website or by calling the funeral home at 905-388-4141. Everyone must wear a mask and practice social distancing.
Maria was our Mom, Grandma & Great Grandma who lived her life surrounded by the love of her family & her faith in God. Although we will miss her, we will cherish the many traditions and memories she gave us. We take comfort knowing that she is finally at peace in heaven with those who have gone before her.
