Margaret Marina Marie Walker 2021

Margaret “Marina” Marie (Duffitt) Walker, 80, of Leeside Drive, Coxheath passed away Tuesday, December 21, 2021, at the Cove Guest Home, Sydney.
Born in Monroe, NL, she was the daughter of the late Alexander and Elsie (Boone) Duffitt of Trinity Bay, NL.
Marina was a member of the United Protestant Church of Sydney River.
Marina is survived by her son, Joseph (Kellie) of Yarmouth; her daughter, Heather (Steven) Smith of Coxheath; grandson, Tyler Smith; sister, Nita Lane; brother, Bill (Patricia) Duffitt; sister-in-law, Elsie Duffitt of Eastport, NL; and step-daughter, Katlyn Robertson, of Yarmouth.
She was predeceased by her husband, George Andrew Walker; sister, Nellie (Eldred) Stanley; brothers, Lin Duffitt and Alex Duffitt; and brother-in-law, Thomas Lane.
Our mother, Marina, was truly the best mother with a heart of gold. We are so blessed to have had her in our lives. She always ensured everyone was well taken care of before her own needs were met. Children held a special place in her heart as she raised many as her own. Her grandson, Tyler, was especially important and a source of great pride. Among those she cared for are, Sarah Jean (Campbell) Lynk and David Campbell, who were always thought of as her own family. Marina was a lover of animals and had a special connection with any stray cat, dog or bird looking for comfort.
Dementia had taken our beloved mother several years before her passing. However, in death, we know she has returned to her fun-loving and caring self.
Our special angel is now in Heaven and in our living memories and our hearts until we are together once more.
A special thank you to all the nurses and staff at the Cove Guest Home for your continued care and compassion during this final stage of Marina’s life. Your incredible care and proactive approach made Marina’s stay comfortable and provided peace of mind for her family.
Final arrangements and service will be announced later.
Donations in Marina’s name may be made to the Cove Guest Home or Nova Scotia SPCA – Cape Breton Shelter.
