After a brief illness, Carmel Kennedy passed away with her daughter by her side at Victoria Hospital in London, Ontario on October 15, 2021, at the age of 88.
Beloved wife of Edward Kennedy for the past 60 years. Loving mother of Karen, Paul (d.2020) and Cheryl. Cherished Grandmother to Kara.
Carmel was born in New Waterford, Cape Breton Island, into a large Catholic family, the daughter of Lexie and Dan S. MacNeil. She is survived by her brother, Frank MacNeil of Toronto. She moved to Toronto after becoming a Registered Nurse and then was a stewardess with TCA (now Air Canada). After settling in Kitchener, Carmel had the house that all the kids came to. She was a second mother to many.
Carmel’s family will receive visitors from 12:30 p.m. – 1:15 p.m. on Friday, October 22, 2021, at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener. A funeral service will follow immediately in the chapel at 1:30 p.m. and the burial will take place at Parkview Cemetery in Waterloo.
Those wishing to attend the visitation and service must RSVP through the funeral home website or by calling 519-749-8467.
As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Alzheimer Society – London & Middle would be appreciated by the family (cards available at the funeral home).
