Young, Maisie – Passed peacefully away at the Dr.
L.A. Miller Centre after a courageous battle with cancer, at the age
of 86. Predeceased by her beloved husband: Walter Young; parents:
Gordon and Florence Diamond; sister: Margaret; brother: Lester.
Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are her sons: Gary
(Charmaine), Keith (Jennifer), Todd (Janice); grandchildren: Sydney
(Mike), Leah (Earl), Colin, Jonathan, Chantelle (Joshua);
great-grandchildren: Garrett, Benjamin, and Noah, as well as a large
circle of extended family and many friends. Maisie was born on Change
Islands. She met her husband when they were both teaching in
Twillingate. Maisie retired from the Waterford Medical Library after a
career as a librarian. She was also a long-time member of the Wesley
United Church UCW.
Resting at Barrett’s Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton
Avenue, on Tuesday, December 28, from 7:00-9:00pm, following alert
level 3 guidelines. Funeral Service will be held at Wesley United
Church on Wednesday, December 29, at 11:00am, Registration is required
to attend the service. To register for the service please call
Barrett’s Funeral Home at 709-579-6007 between the hours of
9:00am to 5:00pm. Interment will take place at Durrell Cemetery,
Twillingate on Thursday, December 30, at 1:30pm. In lieu of flowers,
donations may be made to Canadian Cancer Society, VOWR, Wesley United
Church or a charity of one’s choice. To leave a message of
