Madelyn Anne Smith (nee Dalrymple)
Passed away peacefully, at Freeport Hospital, Kitchener, on Sunday June 6, 2021, in her 92nd year. Predeceased by her parents Gordon Dalrymple and Hazel, nee. Cassady and sister, Esther Fadden. Loving mother of Barbara, Brenda and Neil Jr. (Alison) Loving grandmother to Neil Allan, Christopher, Addie (Evan), Hailey, Matthew and Scott. Madelyn grew up in Ayr and read the Ayr News all her life. She married in 1953 and moved to Sudbury where she lived until 1979. She has since resided in Waterloo and at Luther Village Retirement Community from 1999-2020. Madelyn cherished her grandchildren and loved celebrating family birthdays and holidays. She was supported by many long-term friends and valued her time and experiences with them. Madelyn was a lifetime member of Beta Sigma Phi and a longtime member of Waterloo First United Church handbell choir. She worked at Mutual Life, North America Life and Northern Electric and volunteered at church, Meals on Wheels, YWCA and the Cancer Society.
