Obituary for Mack Newton Bower
Passed away peacefully at the Village of Aspen Lake on February 16, 2021 at 95 years of age. Beloved husband of the late E. Jean Bower (2005). Predeceased by his parents Frank & Lenah Bower. Son-in-law of the late Ralph & Etta (Collins) Bennett. Loving father of David Bower (Mary Ann), and Beth Bower (Victor Wanjon). Treasured Papa of Amanda Levesque (Richard) and Meggan MacKenzie (Brock). Great Papa of Matthieu and Jaleena Levesque; Madelynn and Samuel MacKenzie. Predeceased by all his siblings, Geraldine Ely (late Homer), Jack Bower (late Irma), Beverly Ferguson (late George), Frederick Bower, Frank Bower (late Lynn), Lenabeth Bower, Ernie Bower (Kaye). Brother-in-law of the late Ken Bennett (Myra) and the late Marion Parr (Allan). Mack will be fondly missed by many nieces & nephews. Mack at the age 18 enlisted in the United States Navy and served during WWII on the USS Nashville from May 1943-Dec 1944. He received a Purple Heart from a Kamikaze attack. Mack worked on the Wabash Railroad and then he married the love of his life Jean Bennett and moved to Oldcastle. He then worked for Detroit Edison and overtime became a 1st Class Stationary Engineer. Mack pursued his passion of flying and became a pilot in 1976 when he was not hunting, fishing, or golfing. He built his own home and rebuilt a cottage. After retirement, Mack and Jean enjoyed extensive traveling in their 5th wheel trailer throughout Canada and United States when they were not at the cottage. Mack was a long-time member of St. Stephen’s Anglican Church in Oldcastle and St. James Anglican Church in Windsor. The most important and centre of his life was his family. A private graveside service will take place at Stephen’s Anglican Church in Oldcastle. A memorial service will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the St. Stephen’s Memorial Fund, Heart & Stroke Foundation, or the Alzheimer’s Society. You may send your condolences online at www.kennedyfh.com
