The family of Lorraine Gessner is sad to announce her passing on March 1, 2021 at the Lakeview Pioneer Lodge in Wakaw Sask at the age of 84 years.
Lorraine was born on September 4, 1936 to Cornelius and Mary Schiltz in Humboldt SK. She was raised on a farm near Annaheim, SK. with her twin sister Louise and three other sisters Gladys, Gwendolyn, and Arlene. She attended Schuler School.
Lorraine Married Roman Gessner on July 6, 1957. They resided in Kamloops and New Westminister, BC where their two daughters Wanda and Shelley were born. They returned to Saskatchewan in 1961 and settled in Wakaw where their four boys Glen, Wayne, Trevor and Todd were born. Lorraine was actively involved in many community organizations and volunteered on many committees such as the CWL, Curling Club, 4H Leader and the Wakaw Hospital Auxiliary. She also worked at the Red and White grocery store and at the Wakaw Hospital.
As a young girl Lorraine loved playing softball and very much enjoyed attending the many tournaments and sports days with her sisters and her family. Later she became a big fan of curling. She was a member of the Wakaw Curling Club and rarely missed watching curling on TV. She was also an avid cheerleader at the many sports events of her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed friend and family get togethers, camping and playing cards.
She now rests in peace with her husband Roman who passed away in 2000 and their daughter Shelley who passed away in 1997. Lorraine leaves to mourn her passing, her daughter Wanda (Brian) children Courtney (Callum), Craig and Michael; son in Law Gene, children Trish, Kirby (Perri and daughter Marley), Kristi (Mike), and Jamie; son Glen, children Blaine and Hailey; son Wayne, children Jaclyn (Aaron and sons Owen and Kaleb), Daniel (Helanna and son Tanner), Nicole (Brett); son Trevor, child Kyle; and son Todd.
