Obituary of Lorne Thomas McKinnon SMITH
July 4, 1935 – Red Deer, Alberta
March 9, 2021 – Calgary, Alberta
Lorne Smith, beloved husband of Lou smith (nee Fair), of Calgary, AB, passed away on Tuesday, March 9, 2021, at the age of 85 years, surrounded by the love of his family.
Lorne was born in Red Deer, AB, on July 4, 1935. Upon graduating high school, he packed his bags and left for Europe for two years, as he hiked his away around many countries. Upon returning to Calgary, Lorne started a very successful career at Gulf Oil for thirty years. He met Lou in September 1957 and married her in October 1958. Lorne and Lou had a passion for travel and visited many countries, but Lorne loved Barbados the most.
Lorne will be missed by his wife of sixty-two years, Lou, his sons, Grant (Twila) and Brent (Anna Marie); and his daughter Carolynn (Tim). Lorne is also survived by his three grandchildren, Joel, Stacey (Mitch), and Scott; and two great-granddaughters, Stella and Indie.
