LOIS MARIE HAYNES
May 6, 1934 – June 26, 2021
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother Lois Marie Haynes (nee Driscoll) of Rossland, BC at the age of 87 years.
Lois was born on May 6, 1934 to parents Michael and Beatrice Driscoll in Foam Lake, Saskatchewan. The Driscoll family made their final move to Rossland, BC in 1942 and became the place where Lois stayed and built her life as well. She married, worked, raised her five children and made life-long friends in the beautiful mountain community that she loved.
In addition to raising a family, Lois found time to participate and give back to the community at large. She was a Girl Guide Leader and a member of the Rossland Healthcare Society, Catholic Woman’s League and Sacred Heart Parish. She volunteered her time at the Rossland Thrift Shop and to many community causes over the years. Lois was also the Rossland City Librarian for many years where she enjoyed sharing her love of reading with everyone who dropped in.
Lois also enjoyed spending time with family and friends and she never forgot a birthday or to acknowledge other special occasions.
Lois will be lovingly remembered by her children Brad (Brenda), Diane, Chris (Carol), Mark; grandchildren: Nicole, Travis (Sarah), Michael (Natalie), Whitney (Solomon), Larissa (Danno), Landon (Gil), Brandon, Nolan, Curtis; great-grandchildren: Tristen, Kora, Elli, Riley, Sophia, Tyler and Karama; brother Jimmy Driscoll; sisters: Maureen Wallis, Geraldine McCabe (Terry), Beatrice Grey (Dennis), Kathleen Demontigny (Jerry); brother-in-law Gordon Mooney, and many nieces and nephews.
Lois was predeceased by her beloved daughter Susan, parents Michael and Beatrice Driscoll, brother Michael Driscoll, sisters Gail Silbernagel and Karen Mooney, brothers-in-law Darryl Wallis and Andy Silbernagel and nephew Patrick Mooney.
Cremation has taken place and a graveside ceremony will be held on Thursday, July 29, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at the Rossland Mountain View Cemetery. Andreas Schmitz of Alternatives Funeral and Cremation Services™ has been entrusted with arrangements.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made in Lois’ memory to the Arthritis Society or to a charity of one’s choice.
You are invited to leave a personal message of condolence.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Lois Marie Haynes June 26th 2021..
