THURSTON, Lloyd Cecil – passed away peacefully in his sleep at Cambridge Memorial Hospital, Cambridge on Thursday, January 14, 2021. Lloyd was in his 92nd year and was predeceased by his wife of 52 years, June Eakins. Loving father of Catherine Thurston-Bassarab of Kitchener, Carolyn Sturges of Kitchener (predeceased by Nick Sturges), Arthur and his wife Ottilia of Lindsay. Dear grandfather of Julia, Bradley, Nicole, Scott and Matthew. Great-Grandfather of Ewan, Anna and Lucy Haig. Survived by his dearly loved sister Anna Thurston (Jack, predeceased) of Lindsay and predeceased by his brother and friend Earl Thurston and his wife Marion. The Funeral service will be held in the chapel at the Mackey Funeral Home, 33 Peel Street, Lindsay on Monday, January 18th. Interment at Little Britain United Church Cemetery following the service.
Lloyd was an avid fan of the Peterborough Petes and Toronto Maple Leafs. He enjoyed curling and community sports and special events. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations be made to either the Heart & Stroke Association or the Bob Fund c/o the Sports Hall of Fame, Lindsay.
