Lindsay Trask passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, October 14, 2021.
Born in Elliston, NL, he was the son of the late Wilson and Mary Trask.
Lindsay grew up in Mount Pearl, NL. He attended M.U.N. in Newfoundland and Nova Scotia Tech, in Halifax, graduating in 1963 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Metallurgical Engineering. In May 1963, Lindsay started his professional career with DOSCO and was present for the SYSCO Plant closure in 2000. In between, he spent time with IPSCO in Regina, NFLD Steel 1968 Co. Ltd. in St. Johns, NL and Warnock Hersey Professional Services in Mississauga, ON. Since 2000, he worked as a non-destructive testing technician with Breton ND Testing in Reserve Mines. Early in his career with DOSCO, he took a keen interest in non-destructive testing and maintained it throughout. He prepared and presented NDT training sessions to SYSCO inspectors in every decade following the initial one in 1968.
Lindsay is survived by his daughters, Debbie Gillis (Shane) and Joanne (Dave); sons, Dave (Sheri) and Mike (Tobi); eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; sisters, Audrey Boyles (Art), Marilyn Cooper (Cal) and Shirley Ralph (Frank); brothers, Ed (Marilyn), Brad (Sue) and Gary (Denyse); several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife, Anna; son, Ken; a brotherin childhood; and a sister in infancy.
Visitation will take place at Sydney Memorial Chapel on Sunday, October 17 from 4-7 p.m. Covid-19 protocols will be followed and double vaccination is mandatory. A private family service will be held, which can be viewed on Monday, October 18 at 11 a. m. on FaceBook Live by visiting the Sydney Memorial Chapel FaceBook page. Interment will take place in Hardwood Hill Cemetery.
