Leonard’s Obituary
Len Sigstad left this world on March 4, 2021 after his battle with cancer.
Len was born on 31 May 1943 on a farm near St Walburg, SK to Mabel Sigstad. He grew up in the Scrip area, attending Sigstad School and later Rose Valley School.
Len spent his late teens and early 20’s working in BC, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba. He was introduced to the love of his life, Marion Thul, by his good friend Pete Liss while she was working in Yorkton.
They married on May 9, 1970 and moved to Calgary, Alberta. In 1973, they returned to the Rose Valley area and settled on the Sigstad farm. There, they raised their 5 children, crops, cattle and various other livestock. He still worked away from time to time, keeping his skills as a dozer operator sharp. He retired from farming in 2013, staying on the family farm for the remainder of his years.
In his earlier years, Len loved to play ball, ride his horse-Pal, and curling in various bonspiels. In recent years, Len enjoyed playing cards, and visiting with family and friends. He was an avid reader, loved his westerns. He liked to drive across the prairies and enjoy the trip, frequently giving his passengers a hard time for missing out on the scenery.
He took great joy in the time spent with his wife, Marion, children and grandchildren, Jim (Natalie); Petrea (Todd) -Ethan and Lorelei; Glen (Cara)- Mason, Olivia, and Hudson; Wade (Sherry)- Rylen and Jersey; Deanna (Chris)- Stella and Jake.
He is predeceased by his mother, Mabel, grandparents, Emil and Carrie, and many aunts and uncles.
His readiness for a visit, smiling eyes and teasing grin will be missed by all who had the pleasure to know him.
Due to current restrictions, interment will be at a later date.
