It is with tremendous sadness that we announce the passing of
Léonard Fornelli
1946-2021
Len Fornelli passed away peacefully on January 6, 2021, with his wife and daughter at his side. He is survived by Donna, his wife of 53 years, daughter Jennifer and son Aaron. He was a loving grandpa to Claudia and Papa Len to Alexander. He is lovingly remembered by his siblings Anita, Marguerite, Ed(Josie) and Jim (Mary-Lynn), many nieces and nephews and his extended family Tanya, Faye and Shawn.Len was born in the west Kootenays of British Columbia in 1946 to Jim and Josephine Fornelli. Being raised on a dairy farm for most of his early life gave Len his unfaltering work ethic and sense of commitment to family and community. After leaving high school Len had a full and interesting career serving in the Canadian Navy for 28 years and a second career after the navy, he worked for the Canada Revenue Agency for another 10 years before he finally retired to pursue his favourite activities full-time with the Aylmer Soccer Club, Vorlage Ski Patrol and the Forces Sub Aqua Club.Len had a passion for each of these pursuits and would do more than just participate he would take it to the next level and become a coach, instructor or dive master. He had a generosity of spirit and, for those who were willing, he would serve as a mentor helping everyone so that they could be the best at what they were pursuing. This was inherent to his nature and, along with his beautiful smile and jovial nature, this is how he will be remembered.
The family wishes to thank Drs. Azzouzi, Tinh-Phu and Law, CLSC nurses Janin, Vicky and Eric for their excellent care. The staff and pharmacists at K. Chiasson and M Payer for their caring for advice and help. A very special thank you goes to the exceptional staff at Maison Mathieu-Fromont-Savoie for the wonderful care they provided to Len in his final days.
A service commemorating Len’s life will be held at a later date. In his memory donations may be made to Maison Mathieu-Froment-Savoie (mmfs.org), War Amps (waramps.ca) or your local food bank.
