Lawrence “Leo”‘s Obituary
Power, Lawrence “Leo” ~ Age 78 of Cottage Cove, passed away May 27, 2021, in Soldiers Memorial Hospital, Middleton. Born in Annapolis, he was the son of the late Philip and Ovelina (LeBlanc) Power. Leo started working at a young age with his father in the woods. He went on to doing construction work as a carpenter, where he also worked with his father with construction on the Bear River Bridge. He worked with the Dept. of Highways, specifically with the surveying crew. Lastly, he worked in the commercial fishing industry as a lobster fisherman. He was very active in his community, being former caretaker of the Hillside Cemetery, Port George and looked after the picnic park in Cottage Cove. Anyone asking for help, Leo was there. He loved the local jam sessions and helping the neighbors. Survived by his loving wife, the former Sylvia Banks; son, Blair, Cottage Cove, daughter, Diane Power (Terry Saunders), Aylesford; sister, Jeanette Crawford, Middleton; one granddaughter, Miranda Power, and a great grandson, Grayson Power. He was predeceased by son, Gary; and a sister Judy Richardson. A special Thank-You to the VON – Annapolis Valley Branch; Palliative Care; Doctors and Nurses at Valley Regional Hospital and Soldiers Memorial Hospital; close neighbors and best friends. A private graveside funeral service will be in the Hillside Cemetery, Port George., with Rev. Dr. Danny Smith officiating. Donations in memory may be made to the Hillside Cemetery.
