It is with sadness and loving memory that we announce the passing of Larry Krieger at Regina, SK on June 21, 2021 at the age of 70. Larry was predeceased by his parents, Gustav and Wanda (Platz) Krieger; his sisters Edna (Krieger) Waldbauer and Helen (Krieger) Waldbauer. He will be remembered by his former wife, Linda (Schaible); sons Daniel and Chad (Jenn); daughter Tracey Van Luven (Greg); grandchildren Shandi, Mia, and Alex; brothers and sisters Doreen Markwart, Velma Senft, Harold Krieger, Ervin (Maryann) Krieger, Loretta (Wilfred) Schick, Ernie (Marlene) Krieger, Mavis (Gordon) Yeadon, Carol Marshall; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Larry grew up on his parent’s farm located 3 miles east of Neudorf, SK. In 1968, he moved to Regina where he lived most of his life except for 2 years in Saskatoon. He worked for Toshiba Canada up until his retirement. He enjoyed carpentry and was a fan of baseball and hockey. Many of his summer days were spent sailing on Lake Diefenbaker in his sailboat. Larry was diagnosed with MS and eventually confined to a wheelchair, but he always had a positive outlook on life.
When visiting with Larry, you could expect to get wisdom or advice. He enjoyed telling jokes and stories, often with a moral or lesson at the end. Larry believed that you should not be susceptible to the negative influences of other people. Another quote he would often say was “It’s not your aptitude, it’s your attitude that determines your altitude.” During one of the last visits when in hospice care Larry said “I’m off to sail amongst the stars” – he was a sailor to the core and with that we wish him well on his final voyage.
“Here he lies where he longed to be; home is the sailor, home from the sea.”
“We are all just visitors to this time, this place. We are just passing through. Our purpose here is to learn, to grow, to love… And then we return home”
A Private Family Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Larry Allan Krieger June 22nd 2021..
