Kevin was born in Cape Broyle, the first of six children of Lawrence and Madge O’Brien. He died at the age of 89 having lived a good and full life. Predeceased by his first wife, Vera, his sister Eileen, brothers Gene and Ben and sister-in-law Barb, he leaves to mourn his wife Marlene, daughters Valerie Royle and Pamela O’Brien (George), step-children Juanita Condon (Ray) and Robert Condon (Lori), brothers Cyril (Enid) and Jerry, sisters-in-law Verna O’Brien and Carmel O’Brien, many other other in-laws from both marriages, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews and a wide circle of friends.
Kevin was a strong, intelligent, hard-working, resourceful, quiet, generous, sneakily funny, family man. He retired as Chief Draftsman from the City of St. John’s at age 61 and then went on to run a successful care home business in Holyrood with his wife Marlene until he retired again at age 83. During his time at the City, he often worked a second job as a freelance surveyor and drafter. He served as President of the Newfoundland Association of Engineering Technicians and Technologists and was a member of the Knights of Columbus.
He was a man of great faith; truly a good and faithful servant of God. His life and death were blessings. Kevin was loved and he will be missed.
