Ken Found Tuesday October 5 2021

Kenneth (Ken) Williams Found entered into rest at the Ross Memorial Hospital, Lindsay on October 5, 2021 in his 80th year. Ken was the beloved son of the late Lloyd Found and Mildred Found (nee Williams). He was the loving and proud father of Adam Found (Melissa Bowins), Joseph Found (Romina Martignetti), Elizabeth Found (Scott Larkin) and Wesley Found (Katrina Corner). Forever missed by his partner-in-life Patricia Reason, Ken is survived by his brother David (Gisele) Found, sister Gwen (Ray) Enquist and nephew Doug Enquist. He is also survived by his grandchildren Kyle Larkin, Evelyn Larkin, Felix Found, Richard Found and Sophia Found. Ken will be fondly remembered by his extended family and many friends and business associates.
Despite being a “town boy” from Lindsay, Ken gravitated toward rural life, spending much of his youth playing and working at his uncles’ farms in Mariposa Township. It was there that he developed a lifelong love of agriculture, especially horses and related equipment. Whatever the work of the day on the farm, whether it be tilling or thrashing, Ken would be keen to take on the horse-related part of the operation. Rarely if ever did he squander an opportunity to ride or work with horses, even during his long tenure as a hobby farmer focused on raising black angus cattle.
After growing up in Lindsay and attending Ryerson University, Ken relocated to Montreal in 1968 to pursue a career in commercial real estate. Nine years later, he returned to Lindsay to assume his father’s real estate businesses, Found Realty and Ludlow Investments. At great personal and financial cost, and as his father was being taken by Lou Gehrig’s Disease, Ken successfully led the businesses through the economic turmoil of the early 1980s and the real estate crash of 1989-1990. In 1995, he restructured the businesses to create Linborough Property Corporation, which owns the Kent Place and Scotiabank buildings in downtown Lindsay, among others in Peterborough and Ajax. Although Ken never pressured any of his children to succeed him at the family business, he had hoped one of them might one day take an interest. He was delighted to have his son, Wesley, do so in late 2019.
Ever civically-minded, and much like his father, Ken was always sure to engage with and contribute to his community. He served on the council of Ops Township, on the Lindsay Architectural Conservation Advisory Committee, and on several local boards such as those for the Lindsay Agricultural Society, Kawartha Region Conservation Authority and Children’s Aid Society. Ken’s attachment to hearth and home was complemented by a profound interest in history and international affairs, to which his extensive book collection is a testament. Family and friends could always count on him for incisive perspectives on such matters.
Visitation will be held at Mackey Funeral Home, 33 Peel Street Lindsay on Tuesday, October 19 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm and 6:00 to 8:00 pm. Funeral service will be held at Celebrations, 35 Lindsay Street North, Lindsay on Wednesday, October 20 at 2:00 pm. Interment to follow at Riverside Cemetery, Lindsay. PLEASE NOTE: Masks and social distancing are mandatory to attend the visitation and service. Memorial donations to the Lindsay Art Gallery would be appreciated and may be made at Mackey Funeral Home.
