Obituary of Keith Gregory Fagan
“When a Friend becomes a memory, the memory is precious”.
We celebrate the life of Keith Gregory Fagan who left us peacefully on Wednesday, December 15, 2021, at the Dr, Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital , Fredericton , NB.
Born on July 2, 1959, in Sydney , Cape Breton to the late Michael Joseph Fagan and the late Lena Helen (Collins) Fagan of Lingan Road, Sydney. Keith has lived for many years in Fredericton with his brother and sister-in-law and worked at Pharma Choice in Marysville until he retired due to ill health. Keith was a lifelong Special Olympian in both Cape Breton and Capital Region New Brunswick , participating in many sports. His love of sports resulted in many Regional, Provincial and National competitions. His many gold, silver and bronze medals were very special, and he loved to wear them any chance he got. His love of music and dancing made him a hit with the ladies. The trip to Camp Rotary , Grand Lake , NB each summer with his many friends was the highlight of his year. He was a model of kindness, generosity, and humour to all who allowed him into their lives.
Keith leaves behind his brothers, Mike (Rosalind) of Fredericton and Jim (Mary Jane) of Halifax; as well as sisters, Michelle Bartram and Barbara Doucette of Cape Breton; his niece, Kate Fagan of Halifax; his nephews Joshua Fagan of Halifax and Joseph Bartram of Cape Breton; as well as aunts and many cousins. Keith also had a close and abiding bond with Robert MacKillop, Sherisse Collins, Michael Penney, David Redman and Claire MacKillop all of Fredericton.
Due to Covid a private family service will be held, and interment will take place in Cape Breton at a later.
The Family would like to give a profound thanks to the Angels of 3 East at the Chalmers Hospital for their exceptional care, kindness, and heroism. A special thanks also to the management and staff of Eden ‘s Retirement Villa who gave such special care to Keith during his illness. Also, Kelly York who has been our lifeline for so many years. Thank you as well to his many coaches and friends within the Special Olympics Family. He loved you all. The last years of Keith’s life were full of happiness and peace through the dedication of all who helped in so many ways. “The Memory is precious”.
