Obituary For Katia Dawn Dorathea Johnson
July 18, 2000 – March 10, 2021
Katia Dawn Dorathea Johnson of Grande Prairie, Alberta passed away on Wednesday March 10, 2021 at the age of 20 years.
Katia was born July 18, 2000 at 4:44am fast and furious, four minutes after arriving at the hospital. She was the sweetest, most patient baby, crying only if she was hungry or needed to be changed.
By age 1, Katia realized she had to get tough quickly, with two other sisters at home. Mieke was 4 and Hope was 2 when she was born. And even though the girls adored their baby sister, she stole their toys and ripped up their artwork, as 1 year olds do. By age 3, we often joked that if you put the three sisters in a boxing ring, Katia would be the last one standing.
As Katia got older, her love for animals shone through. She found great comfort in having cats as companions. She was also an amazing artist and in her younger years tried skating, soccer and basketball. She preferred drawing, Sudoku, and had a great love for a good novel.
Katia also was extremely compassionate. She always held doors open for the elderly and in junior high, did a fundraiser for the SPCA as a school project and raised over $200!
With her family, Katia loved swimming, camping, boating, fishing, archery and biking. She also loved doing paint night with her Auntie Gaylene, spending time with her little brother and sister, and going out to the farm for the weekend, exploring old buildings and looking for treasures.
Our beautiful daughter, you left this world as quickly as you entered it. We miss you every minute of every day. Knowing you are at peace and no longer hurting from the challenges you struggled with in your short life gives us comfort.
Rest easy our little wildflower, until we see you again.
Katia will be sadly missed by her dad Klinton Johnson (Jennifer), her momma Mariska Macklin (Brody), her older sister Mieke Johnson (Kyle) and nephew Ryker, her older sister Hope Johnson, her younger brother and best friend Skyy Macklin, little sister Jovi Macklin, stepsister Alexis Robinson (Lane) and stepbrother Rhett Sutherland.
Missing Katia also are her Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, friends, her two childhood friends Destinee Broderick and Ronnie Johnson, boyfriend Andrew Moores and Kitty Twilight.
Katia was pre-deceased by her loving grandma Mary Ann Johnson, who nicknamed her Princess.
We will be having a celebration of life on the evening of July 17, 2021 at the Macklin acreage, with a special event at midnight (her birthday). This is an open invitation for anyone who would like to celebrate with us. Please bring a chair or blanket to sit on, and a beverage for a toast.
