Tykajlo, Kateryna (nee Staruch)
June 10, 1925 – December 24, 2021
Passed away peacefully at Hillsdale Terraces, in her 97th year. Predeceased by her beloved husband Stefan (2015). Loving mother of Maria (Benito Bermudez) and Roman.
Fondly remembered baba of Nadia (Carlos), Marco, Markian and Tayissa. Predeceased by her brother Mykhailo and daughter-in-law Linda. Survived by brother Roman and sister Zophia and many nephews and nieces and their families.
Born in the village of Siemuszowa, Poland and immigrated from England with her husband and young family to Canada in 1957. Long-time parishioner of St. George’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, chorister and active member in the Ukrainian cultural community in Oshawa, Ontario. She enjoyed simple pleasures in life: gardening, flowers, embroidering, knitting crocheting, singing and volunteering and socializing in the church kitchen.
A special heartfelt thank you to the staff at Hillsdale Terraces Vineyard View who cared for Kateryna in her final years.
Visitation will be held on Friday, December 31 from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Armstrong Funeral Home (124 King St. E., Oshawa). Panachyda and Funeral Service will follow at 11 a.m. in the Chapel. Interment will follow at St. Wolodymyr & St. Olha Cemetery. Due to COVID19 restrictions, registration is required to attend the visitation and service.
