June Kathleen
Cox – 87, Farnham
Road, Bible Hill, formerly of Brookside Road, Bible Hill, passed away
peacefully at the home of her daughter in Lower Truro, on Friday
afternoon, November 12, 2021. Born in Greenfield, Colchester County,
she was a daughter of the late Earl and Minnie (Robson)
Bartlett.
Before marriage, June worked for the MacMillan family as
their Nanny and she also babysat and helped raise many other children.
She was an accomplished seamstress, enjoyed clogging with her sister
and granddaughter and absolutely loved playing Bingo! Many have
described her as a sweet lady and family and neighbours will fondly
remember “June’s Quick Lunch” on Farnham Road
where you could always stop in and get a delicious bite to
eat!
June is survived by her children, Judy (Edmond) Simpson,
North River; Charles (Cynthia) Cox, Bible Hill; Larry (Yvonne) Cox,
Sutherland’s Lake; Heather (Kim) Williams, Lawrencetown
Beach; Wanda (Colin) Kent, Lower Truro; eleven grandchildren; eight
great grandchildren; two step grandchildren; sisters, Helen (Bill)
Sandeson, Angevine Lake; Marge (Darrell) Sandeson, Greenfield; Vonnie
(Hollis) Carter, Sutherland’s Lake; brothers, Sonny (Gloria)
Bartlett, Onslow; Donnie (Minnie) Bartlett, Ontario; Bobbie Bartlett,
Truro; Bennie (Viola) Bartlett, North River; brother-in-law, Lloyd
Bond, Ontario.
Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her husband,
Murray Arthur Cox; sisters, Shirley Bond, Dolly (Arthur) Veniott, Gail
Bartlett in infancy; brother, Gilbert Bartlett.
Special thanks are extended to the Palliative Care Team and
VON for their support which allowed us to keep Mom at home until the
time of her death.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall –
Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where June’s
family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, November 17,
2021, and memorial service will be held 2 p.m., Thursday, November 18,
2021, Reverend Phillip Kennedy officiating. Private interment in
Greenfield Cemetery. (Please note that proof of
double vaccination and photo identification will be requested prior to
entry to the funeral home for visitation and memorial service, and
masks must be worn at all times; thank you for your co-operation and
understanding.)
Family flowers only. If so desired, donations in
June’s memory to Palliative Care Unit (Colchester East Hants
Health Centre) or VON Colchester-East Hants are welcomed. Webcasting
of the funeral service will be available at 1:55 p.m., Thursday,
November 18, 2021, and will remain on this website for some time.
