It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Judy Taylor-Merrick (nee Caldicott) after a courageous battle with cancer.Judy passed away peacefully at home with her family at her side on Saturday January 30, 2021.
Judy was born February 16 1946 and raised on a farm in Brightview Alberta by her parents Edward and Lila Caldicott. Judy attended school in Wetaskiwin Alberta where she raised her 3 children and worked for many years selling real estate.
In May 2001 she married Art Merrick. Judy and Art spent 20 happy years working and playing together sharing many wonderful adventures, laughs ,and memories.
Judy will be lovingly remembered by her family and friends for her zest for life, her positive attitude and her quick sense of humour. She was an amazing artist and great cook. She had an immense love and appreciation for nature and never lost her child like wonder at it’s beauty. She was also known for her fashion sense and her enjoyment of a good glass of wine shared with Art and friends and family on her deck overlooking her and Art’s wonderful back yard.
Judy leaves behind her husband Art, children Angie (Darryl), Michael ,Bradley and step -son Todd as well as 2 sisters Brenda and Carolyn and spouses .She was a cherished grand- mother and “Gi-Gi” to her 2 grand- daughters Jennifer and Rachel and 2 great- grand children .
A private service will be held Monday February 8 at 1 pm at Park Place Funeral Home and Crematorium in Sherwood Park Alberta. An informal celebration of her life will be planned at a later date as restrictions allow. Donations in her memory can be made to the Cross Cancer Center in Edmonton, in lieu of flowers or gifts.
