Judith Bridgeman Tebbit Wednesday February 10th 2021

Judith Damaris Bridgeman (nee Tebbit)
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Judith Bridgeman who left us peacefully at Lookout Ridge Retirement Home on February 10, 2021 a the age of 93. The family would like to thank Lookout’s staff for their very caring attentiveness to her needs during the 4 years she resided there.
Judith was born on June 1, 1927 in Binbrook Ontario, the youngest child of Amy Maud Tebbit and Alfred Sidney Cunningham Tebbit. She is also predeceased by her two older brothers, Edgar and Roland, husband Allan of over 60 years, and daughter Mary Ellen.
Growing up on a small farm just outside of Smithville, her family was not of means but they wanted for nothing. In school, Judith was a gifted student and earned a full scholarship to McMaster University where she graduated magna cum laude in English.
In her freshman year at McMaster University, Judith met her future husband, Allan Edgar Bridgeman who she married on June 7, 1947. Six children followed: Barbara Anne (friend Guy Royal), Mary Ellen (1952-2011, son Justin); Eric Lyle (wife Eda); Wendy Jean (friend Bill McLaughlin); Brian Edgar (wife Lois and son Luis); Nancy Joan (wife Catherine and children Katie, Kurtis and Jenny).
Judith was a masterful craftsperson, teacher, role model, hostess, scrabble fanatic and more. She was particularly skilled in both sewing and needlework. Both Judith and Al loved travelling, keen to learn more about the world.
Judith valued community. She was a long-standing member of the Fonthill Baptist Church where she served both as a deacon and a Sunday School teacher. She also had a brief stint teaching English as a second language at Niagara College. For a time, Judith volunteered for both the Canadian Cancer Society and the Welland Hospital Auxiliary. She was an engaged participant in the Town Square Manor steering committee, (a life lease residence). As a volunteer with Pelham Cares, she drove countless seniors to appointments across the Niagara Region.
There are not enough words to describe Judith’s loving, kind, caring and gentle ways. She will be missed by all who knew her. Throughout her life, those she encountered felt enriched by Judith’s smile and kindness.
There will not be a funeral service, but those who wish to do so can post memories, pictures or comments online at www.pelhamfuneralhome.ca Donations in memoriam may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Ontario. A Celebration of Life will be held when we can once again gather together to share our memories of Judith.
