Wos: Joseph
Peacefully surrounded by his loving family, at Matthews House Hospice, Alliston, on Monday December 6th, 2021. Joe Wos, in his 81st year was a man his family relied on, a proud woodworker who loved to share his many stories. Joe leaves behind the love of his life Doreen (nee Gater). Loving father of Catherine (Brian Lavoie), Joseph (Lori), John (Angela), and Marie Houston. Cherished Judgie to Adrian (Sabrina), Matthew, Megan (Emelio), Malcolm, Brendan, William (Natalie), Leona (Mike), Allison (Matt) and Melissa (Alex). Missed by his great grandchildren Jason, Jonah, Joseph and Taytum. Fondly remembered by extended family and friends.
As we reflect on Joe, fondly known as Judgie or Judge, as the husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, we are all left with wonderful memories of his pride, dependability, ingenuity, and determination. He most of all took pride in his family and loved to spend as much time with them as possible, especially at the hockey arenas. He would beam with joy when sharing stories of what he and the great-grandchildren were recently up to. He also loved and took great pride in his property of 57 years, spending hours mowing his lawn and tending to his many gardens, his favourite being the roses. He was not a man who sat still long or ever left things not attended to. It got to be a family joke that if he had nothing better to do, you would find him digging a hole. Anyone that has ever had work done by Joe, especially carpentry, knows he took great pride in his work. He loved to talk about and show people the homes he had built over his career. We are honoured to have many pieces of his beautiful woodwork. Joe also loved going on road trips, and nothing made him happier than to go camping and boating with his family and friends. He loved talking to people and making them laugh, leaving us with the memories of his many antics. We could always depend on him to be there when we needed him, even if it was late at night or several hours away. We admired his ingenuity and ability to make or fix just about everything. Last but not least was his determination which he demonstrated in so many aspects of his life, the most being the willpower he showed to walk again after his incomplete spinal cord injury. His qualities of pride, dependability, ingenuity, and determination will leave a lasting legacy for our family, which we will try to keep incorporating these attributes into our lives in his memory and honour.
Respecting Joe’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be held at Rod Abrams Funeral Home, 1666 Tottenham Road, Tottenham, 905-936-3477 on Saturday January 8th, 2022 at 2:00pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in Joe’s memory to Matthews House Hospice would be appreciated by the family. www.RodAbramsFuneralHome.com
