Passed peacefully away, at the age of 96, on Monday December 27, 2021 at Agnes Pratt Home, St. John’s, NL.
Leaving behind with fond and loving memories, his eight children: Howard (Sharon Crane), Roy (Suzanne Badcock), Randell, Melvin, Marilyn (Mike Greene), Carl (Joanne), Sharon (Ron Kirby), and David; his 14 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; sister Rebecca Dodge; as well as a large circle of relatives and friends.

Jordan was born in 1925 in Femme, Fortune Bay, NL and made his livelihood as a fisherman, fishing off the Grand Banks. Wanting a better life for his children, he resettled his family to St. John’s in 1954. He later earned a Marine Engineer Certification and was employed as (Chief) Engineer of the Bell Island Ferry Service (M/V John Guy), retiring in 1989.
He was a longstanding member of the SUF (Society of United Fisherman), St. John’s Lodge #5, and St. Mary’s Parish Men’s Service Club.
Jordon’s family wishes to thank the staff at Agnes Pratt Home and Heritage Square Retirement Home for the care and compassion shown to him during his stay at each facility. Thanking also the kind and caring staff of the Health Sciences Centre and St. Clare’s hospital (his “havens” when in distress), Dr. Peter Robbins and staff at the Campbell Medical Clinic, as well as the staff (and his friends) at St. Luke’s Home and Babb Manor.
Cremation has taken place and funeral arrangements will be announced at a later date.
As an expression of sympathy, donations may be made in Jordon’s name to The Gathering Place; St. Mary’s Parish or to a Charity of one’s choice.
“When I come to the end of the road
and the Sun has set for me
I want no tears in a gloom- filled room
Why cry for a soul set free?
For this is a journey we must all take
and each must go alone
it’s all a part of the master’s plan
a step on the road to home.
MISS ME but LET ME GO!”
