BROWNER, John Robert (Bob)
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of John Robert (Bob) Browner, age 85 who passed away on May 23, 2021, at Dartmouth General Hospital in Nova Scotia with family at his side.
He is survived by his loving wife Audrey of 63 years; sons, Rob and Rick; daughter, Beth; sister, Betty and five grand children.
While growing up in Dominion, Cape Breton, Bob was introduced to flying and joined the Air Cadets. He always found it amusing that he received his flying license before his driver’s license. One of his fondest memories of flying was when he took to the skies with his father for a plane ride in his de Havilland DH.82 Tiger Moth. Soon after, Bob joined the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) as an Air Traffic Controller and traveled the world with his family.
Bob will always be remembered for his kindness and compassion and gentle nature. It seemed like wherever he went, he would run into someone he knew, and he would always have a story to share. Anyone who has heard one of his stories would at some point hear him say, “…to make a long story, even longer!!!…”.
You could always find him in a crowded room–he was the one who had the most people around him, and most times they were laughing at his stories.
Bob’s dedication to his community was amazing. He joined the Knights of Columbus in 1988 and was an active member of St. Vincent de Paul Council 11456 in Dartmouth NS. He was very active in his parish for many years and was instrumental in forming the Funeral ministry at the church. For his dedication and years of service to the parish, he was awarded the Diocesan Medal of Merit. He was active in Palliative Care, Hospital and Home visits and would not hesitate to help anyone in need and was always there to brighten someone’s day.
As a father, he was kind, generous, funny, and was deeply loved. He was the perfect role model, the perfect father. Thank you for that, Dad.
As a husband there wasn’t anything he wouldn’t do for his wife. As the saying goes they were like “two peas in a pod” and you weren’t getting one without the other. A beautiful love story they were truly a match made in heaven.
Bob will be missed but never forgotten. Until we meet again…
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Christ the King Parish, 320 Flying Cloud Drive, Dartmouth, NS B2W 4T6 or a charity of your choice.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions a celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Death notice for the town of: Dartmouth, Province: Nova Scotia
My sincere condolences to Audrey and family. The days I spent with Bob, in our capacity as palliative care ministers at our respective churches, was very fulfilling and allowed me to get to know a fellow veteran and a man who was at his best sharing compassion with those in need. May he rest in peace. Anselm Hann
