John (Jack) Arnold Oattes (August 8, 1936 – December 20, 2021)
The family announces with heavy hearts, the peaceful passing of John Arnold Oattes, on Dec.20 2021 at the age of 85. He will be greatly missed by his wife of 66 years, Mary (nee Hass) and children Bob (Christina), Ron (Christiane), Juanita (Rainer), Roger (predeceased), Lorraine (Donald), and Kimberley (George). John was a proud grandpa to six grandchildren, Adam (Heather), Leah, Melanie (Ben), Tylor (Alexandra), Jordan (Sara), Merriah (Jessica) and had eight great grandchildren, Lana, Brodie, Hannah, Emily, Ainsley, Harlow, Wade and Reid.
Predeceased by his parents Arnold and Doreen, and brother Barclay (Gail). Survived by his younger brother Wayne (late Grace), sister Helen Pettigrew (Murray).
John was a very proud, hard working and dedicated man, who spent his working years at the Nickel Refinery for Inco. He was an avid reader who spent much of his time in his retirement taking a vested interest in the world around him. He was a deep and analytical thinker and often shared his thoughts in his Letters to the Editor to the Sudbury Star.
A heartfelt thanks goes out to the staff at Elizabeth Care Centre and Health Sciences North for the compassionate care John received these past six months.
In keeping with his wishes there will be no visitation or service.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Health Sciences North Foundation.
Arrangements entrusted to Sudbury Park Lawn Cremation Services.
