Obituary
Nicholson, John Joe
New Waterford
It is with great sadness that we the family announce the passing of John Joe Nicholson on October 22, 2021, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital. Born July 31, 1941, he was the son of the late George and Emma (MacDonald) Nicholson.
Joe had worked in construction, was a very kind man and had a great love for cats, especially his own, Ginger. They were often seen out in the yard sitting on the swing. Many times, he bought cat food for any stray cats that were in the neighborhood.
Joe is survived by his daughter Bridget (Chris) Snider and grandson Bentley, all of Ontario; sisters Jemina, whom he resided with, and Helen, special niece Ann, as well as many other nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was also predeceased by brothers Robbie, John; sisters Jenina, Veronica, Theresa; brothers-in-law Ernest Cormier, Reggie Dwyer, and Morrison Dupe.
Cremation has taken place and a chapel service will be held Thursday, Oct. 28th at 11 am with Father Peter McLeod officiating. Masks as wells as proof of vaccination are required. Burial in St. Agnes Cemetery.
The family would like to thank the VON, Palliative Care, doctors, and nurses at the Regional Hospital for the exceptional care Joe received. Donations in memory of Joe can be made to Palliative Care or the Cancer Unit.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of McLellan Brothers Funeral Home, 3183 Plummer Ave, New Waterford, 902-862-7500. To send online condolences, go to: www.mclellanfuneralhome.com
