Peacefully at Norfolk General Hospital, Simcoe on Wednesday, October 27, 2021. John Carmichael of Jarvis, husband of the late Shirley (nee Carroll), in his 103rd year. Beloved father of Karen (Bob) Quinn, Kim (John) Schembri, Glen, Kelly (Paul) Haggett and Ian (Leanne). Proud Grandpa of Amanda, Paige, Jeremy, Diana, Cody, Madison, Julie and Owen and Great Grandpa of William. Brother of Murdoch. Predeceased by Matilda, Kenneth, Marjorie and Lillian. Survived by many nieces and nephews. John was a veteran of WWII, serving overseas from 1941-1946 in the RCEME. John loved woodworking, square dancing and skating with his speed skates. On his retirement from OPG, Shirley and John travelled extensively. Friends are invited to call at COOPER FUNERAL HOME, 19 Talbot Street West, Jarvis on Friday, November 5, 2021 from 6-8 pm. (Masks and physical distancing are required at all times when on funeral home property). The funeral service for John will be held at Wesley United Church, Jarvis on Saturday, November 6 at 1 pm (At the request of the family, in order to allow full capacity of the church without requiring physical distancing, proof of double vaccination along with photo identification will be required to attend the service. Masks are still required at all times while in the church and information will be collected for contact tracing as required by law. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.) Interment of cremated remains to follow at Wesley United Church Cemetery. If desired, donations to a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
