It is with profound and unequaled sadness that we announce the passing of our sweet Jessica on September 14, 2021. Jessica was 31 years old when she was called upon to be reunited with her beloved Nanny Jean and Papa Joe.
After graduating St. FX with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2012, Jess combined her love of nursing with travel as she went to work as a Registered Nurse in different locations across Canada, including 7 communities in Canada’s Nunavut Territory and Calgary before deciding her heart was in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, where she worked as a Registered Nurse with Mental Health and Addictions. Jessica’s wanderlust brought her to numerous countries in Europe and South East Asia as well as visiting the Dominican Republic, Mexico and the United States.
Jess had an absolutely infectious laugh and a smile that lit up her whole face. Her big bright blue eyes were only matched in size by her caring and loving nature. Jessica will be mourned, loved, remembered and survived by so many family members and friends that she touched in her time with us that it would be impossible to name them all. Her mom and best friend Lynn (Dan), her dad Hugh (Sherri), her brother Scott, grandparents Doll & Jerry, double first cousins Ryan (Stephanie) and Katie (Vincent), step-brother Darren (Bill), step-sister Michelle (Bobby), Uncle John (Sharon), Aunt Cathy (Tim), Uncle Kent (Lisa), Aunt Kathy (Chris), first cousins Ian, Megan & Carolyn as well as her baby nephew and niece, Simon and Sloane.
Jessica dedicated her career to helping those struggling with mental health issues and related addictions. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be made in Jessica’s name to the Mental Health Foundation of Nova Scotia by visiting www.mentalhealthns.ca/donate. Jessica will be interred with her grandparents at a later date in a private gathering. Jessica’s absence will be deeply felt and coming to terms with the finality of her loss will be a challenging journey. She will forever be in our hearts and minds.
