It is with the deepest sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of Jeanette Robertson at the age of 58. She is survived by her person Gary, father John, brothers Byron and Richard (Michelle), ex-husband David (Tracy), daughters Janelle, Lauren (Scott), Avery and Carlyn, step-children Sarah (Jason), Ray (Dylan), and step-grandchildren Hadley, Piper & Ada. She was predeceased by her mother Diane and son Eric.
Jeanette was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan but moved at a young age with her family to Salmon Arm, where she grew up. Here she completed highschool before attending UBC, graduating in 1985 with a BEd.
She settled in Armstrong in 1986, where she raised, nurtured and loved her five children and two step children for the last 35 years. Jeanette was the heart of our blended families. She always made time for family and friends, whether it be staying up late to fine tune one of those awesome Halloween costumes, getting up in the middle of the night to pick up an inebriated teenager, driving for miles (sometimes in inclement weather) to take the kids to sporting events or get to her own volleyball team so they wouldn’t be short a player. She adored her children, was always there with a helping hand and knowledgeable advice, and was extremely proud when they achieved their goals in sport, education and just the plain rigors of growing up.
Jeanette was also quite competitive – she loved to win at all sports, card games, board games, trivia, and even a friendly game of bean bag toss or bocce while camping was serious business. She loved to debate, any topic anytime with anyone. And she usually won.
One of Jeanette’s greatest assets was her ability to see the glass half full. She had the knack of appreciating that things could always be worse. Even in times of despair, she managed to summon the strength to carry on and be there for her family and friends. To paraphrase one of her favourite songs, she saw the world through rose coloured glasses.
Some of the things about Jeanette I am most going to miss are her beautiful smile and how often she laughed. She had a fantastic sense of humour, easily able to laugh at herself or along with others, and often stating “I crack me up”. Mainly, I will miss the times when it was just the two of us alone enjoying a meal, in the car or just sitting on the couch watching TV, knowing that nothing had to be said because we both knew we had something very special, our person.
This beautiful soul was taken from us way too soon and will be truly missed as a beautiful, intelligent, loyal, and loving daughter, sister, mother, lover and friend.
There will be no service at this time due to Covid restrictions, but will be postponed until spring.

Jeanette you will be missed. I cherish our time spent in Armstrong back in the 80s and enjoying Janelle and Lauren and the fun we had especially our trip to Maui with Karin and Steven, you and David and Mark and I. I am sending my condolences to your family. Rest In Peace Jeanette ❤️
