Obituary of Jean Morine Moorcraft
It is with great sadness that the family of Jean Morine Moorcraft announce her passing in Quesnel, B.C. at G.R. Baker hospital on Dec. 1st 2021, at the age of 93.
Jean was born on March 4th 1928 at Laity Farm, Hammond B.C. (near Maple Ridge, B.C.) she had two sisters, Naomi and Helen.
Mom grew up in the Milner/Langley B.C. area and went to UBC university and became a teacher. Her first teaching position was at a rural one room school at Dragon Lake,Quesnel, B.C.
Jean taught a total of 14 years for the Quesnel school district, before accepting a teaching position at North Kamloops Elementary school in 1959/1960. In 1967 Jean started teaching home economics at John Peterson Secondary school in Kamloops and ran a very successful lunch program, for many years, she taught in Kamloops for over 22 years.
She married Robert Gwylim Williams on Dec. 24th, 1948 and they had one child, Robert Gwylim Williams. Tragically she lost her husband in an accident in 1953 a few months before their only child was born. She then married Don Moorcraft in Kamloops on May 17th, 1968 and they had many travel adventures in their travel home with their dogs, until his passing. One of their adventures was travelling from Kamloops to Barkerville in a chuckwagon with their horses.
During Mom’s retirement she kept very busy doing things she loved, on her small farm at Cherry Creek, B.C. (Kamloops). She loved playing her guitars, the Dobro was her favorite. She was also a member of the Old Time Fiddlers in Kamloops and Quesnel, where she played with them, at dances and senior homes, and at her own home, jamming with other musicians. Jean’s other hobbies were, exercising, walking, gardening, dancing, and taking care of her pets and horses. Mom’s favorite song was, “The Old Wooden Cross”, the sunflower was her favorite flower and bronze was her favorite colour.
Jean leaves behind her only child Robert Gwylim Williams (Nataliya), 4 grandchildren, Brad Williams, Carrie (Borland), Christina (Goodwin) and Garrett Williams, and 9 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild.
In 2010 Jean moved back to Quesnel and spent many happy years with her family and friends.
Mom always had a very warm smile, she was a very cheerful, positive, kind person, who will be deeply missed.
On Dec. 1st, 2021 Heaven got a very special, beautiful Angel.
A private family celebration of life will be held in the future in lieu of a service
