À la mémoire de
Jean Allison Bryce (nee Wilkie)
30 juillet 1941 –
31 août 2021
Passed away peacefully at home August 31st, 2021, at the age of 80 years.
She was loving wife of the late Samuel, loving mother to son William, and to son the late Steven, and to daughter the late Jacqueline. She was loving sister of her brother Daniel and his wife Susan (in England), and sister the late Margaret and her husband the late Ken (in Scotland), and brother the late John (in England), and cousin to Frances (in Scotland) and Jeannie (in England), and aunt to her nephews Murray and Kennedy and their families in Scotland. Jean was also loving aunt to many nieces and nephews of the extended Bryce family in Kirkcaldy, Fife, Scotland, and England and Canada.
Having been born and raised in Scotland, she was proud to be Scottish, and often spoke fondly of her younger days in Burntisland, Fife where she was lovingly raised with the Murray family after having lost her own parents at a young age. Jean and Sam immigrated the family to South Africa in the early 1960s to start a new life. After several years there and a brief return to Scotland, the family immigrated once again for another new life in Toronto, Canada in 1968. Shortly thereafter Jean started a long and successful career of 32 years as an Environmental Laboratory Technologist with the Ontario Ministry of Health, of which she was very proud. She met her dear friends Jenny and Ailish at “the Lab”, and they enjoyed many years of friendship at work and after her retirement. Jean enjoyed a lengthy retirement enjoying travels to many parts of the world with son William, including many fun trips to Las Vegas, and most recently to the Canadian Rocky Mountains. Jean was known by those that knew her for her kind and gentle nature. She enjoyed tending to her home and garden. Jean enjoyed concerts, live theatre shows, and her many favorite tv shows.
She will be greatly missed by son William and her friends in Canada and friends & family in Scotland and England.
There will be no funeral service in Canada as her wish was to be cremated and returned to be interred in the family plot in Burntisland, Fife, Scotland which will happen with a service there at a later date.
She was “Simply the Best”.
