Alkenbrack, Helen Jane “Janie” 1930-2021
A beloved Napanee resident for her 90 years, Janie passed away peacefully on Monday July 19th 2021 at the John M Parrott Centre. Youngest daughter of John M. Caldwell (Jack) and Pearl Davis, Janie was born on the farm on the Napanee River where she was always surrounded by a large loving family, tons of friends, and numerous fur and feathered pets. Wife of the late Jim Alkenbrack, and sister to Bruce Caldwell of Fort Frances, and her late brothers and sisters Joe Caldwell (Ruth) of Peterborough, Barbara Caldwell and Sue Sinclair (Allan) of Napanee. Janie leaves behind a gaggle of nephews and nieces on whom she doted and who thought the world of her. Carol Sinclair, Ian Sinclair, and Patti Sinclair (late Brad) of Napanee, Scott Caldwell of Crystal Beach, Jay and Beth Caldwell of Fort Frances and Thunder Bay, Roger Duncan, of Nailsworth UK and the late John Fenwick (Joanne) of Napanee.
There was something about Janie… everyone remembers her kind demeanor, her great sense of humor and positive approach to life. With sisters Sue and Barb always close by, there was laughter and nonsense and husband Jim was happy to play a lead role in whatever frolic was happening on any given moment on any given day. Her besties Lois Swan and Barb Cowle always featured in a plan – to go to find a great golf course to play, and top the day off with some shopping. Always looking snazzie, with a smile and a giggle, there was nobody quite like our Janie. We love her and will miss her and are so thankful we were a part of her great life.
If you wish to join us, a celebration of life will be held at the Wartman Funeral Home – Napanee Reception Centre on Saturday, August 7, 2021 from 3-5 pm. The family will share some words and stories at 3:30 pm.
