Loving sister to Judy and Paul Kett, Wilbert and Darlene Rowntree, Nancy and Tom Elliott, Ruthanne and Brad Hewitt, Betty and Greg Visser.
Loving sister in law to Millie (late Peter) Walker, John, Late David, Late Betty Ann (late Wilfred) Boudreau, Tony (late Catherine), Lorraine (late Pat) King, Ernie (special sister in law and best friend Vicky),Ivan (Marlene), Wayne (Edwina), Phyllis, Martin (Betty), Marilyn (late Roy) Holloway, Laura (Carl) Dawson, Leslie, Mary-Ellen.
Very Special aunt to her many nieces and nephews.
Janice was born in Hagersville, Ontario. She was proud to have grown up on the farm. After high school graduation, she went on to Brantford General Hospital to attend nursing school and later worked there as a Registered Nurse in the Operating Room. After moving to Cape Breton, Janice stayed at home with her children for many years. She later joined the family business, St. Peter’s Automotive, where she enjoyed working for the past 25 years.
Janice enjoyed the simple things in life like cruising in the corvette listening to George Jones or watching Albert fish while reading a good book. Janice enjoyed every moment and milestone spent with her family. She was devoted to her children and grandchildren and this was evident in the many hours she spent with them. Whether it was driving to a hockey practice, waiting for Katie at fiddle lessons or ensuring everyone was home to gather around the table to enjoy Beth’s cooking and a good game of trivia. She never missed a hockey game and a chance to cheer alongside Chantal for Michael, Cade and Veva or baking with Harper. She was always up for an adventure, a road trip or a good day of shopping with her girls. Janice cherished the reunions and visits with her Rowntree and Touesnard family whether in Ontario, Cape Breton or another destination. She could make a party or celebration out of anything no matter how big or small. Janice was the heart and soul of our family and her absence will always be felt. We take comfort in knowing that Janice is reunited in heaven with her dear friend, Mary.
We would like to send a heartfelt thank you to the doctors and nurses for their care at the Strait Richmond Hospital and the St. Peter’s Home Support Nurses. To all the family and friends who’s love and generosity have helped us through this journey, we thank you. Arrangements have been entrusted to Green’s Funeral Home. A private graveside service will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to Melanoma Awareness, www.melanomanetwork.ca
