James C. Gurney
1943 – 2021
With great sadness the family announces the passing of Jim Gurney after a courageous battle with cancer. He will be deeply missed by his wife and beloved companion Vivian Lane, his children Adrian Gurney and Nina Ramirez (Hamilton), his grandson, Ryan Tranter-Ramirez and his sister Gretchen Bambrick (Terry). Jim was predeceased by his parents, Edward and Barbara Gurney and his brother Christian Gurney. Jim was a favorite uncle of Robin Gurney (David Campbell) and Katherine Gurney (Andre Nowakowski) and his dear great nieces and nephew. Jim was also beloved by Vivian’s children Carla, Dana (Mike), Amy (Brady) and Sarah Rose (Chris).
Visitation will be held at Tompkins Funeral Home Thursday November 4th from 11:00 am – 2:00 pm. Due to the COVID-19 restrictions, everyone must wear a mask indoors. All attendees must follow these directives: Registrar’s Directive: thebao.ca/registrars-directive-bao-chart-revised-some-limits-adjusted/. A Celebration of Life on Friday November 5th, from 4:00 – 6:00 pm at the Gananoque Inn.
In lieu of flowers, donation to the Cancer Society and the Humane Society would be greatly appreciated by the family.

We are truly sad and devastated to hear of Jim’s passing ….We met him at Sara Lane’s wedding
some years ago and instantly became friends. His humor and kind demeanor made time spent together wonderful times. It was like you knew him all of your life. Our condolences and sympathies are extended to Vivian and the Gurney family.
