Obituary for James Ernest Stewart
May 30, 1944 – March 6, 2021
James “Jimmy” Stewart turned off his bright light, closed his joke book, and passed away peacefully on March 6, 2021. He is sadly missed by his life partner Laurie Briggs, his devoted daughters Sharon and Deborah, his grandchildren Tyler and Krystal. He is lovingly remembered by his sisters Joanna, Doreen (Paul Doiron), Sheila, Freeda (Claude Caron) and Margaret (Peter Wallace), numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Jim was the eighth of twelve children of Mary Ann (Annie) Robinson and Maurice Stewart. He is predeceased by six siblings: Thomas, Clarence, Wallace, Lawrence, Mary and Grace. He will be truly missed by all.
Born in Douglastown, New Brunswick, Jim spent most of his adult life in the Lower Mainland of British Columbia. Jim had a huge heart, a most wonderful sense of humour, and a genuine love of life. He was an eternal optimist, possessing a loving spirit and gentle soul.
He was witty and had a great sense of comedy, always recalling the perfect joke for every occasion. He was known for his storytelling and insightful anecdotes, peppered with a laugh or two. He loved driving, exploring nature, the mountains, the oceans, and taking scenic road trips. He enjoyed long walks, which led him to one of his favourite pastimes, bargain hunting.
We will forever celebrate the fond memories he created with us.
The family will hold a private service in New Brunswick at a later date.
