Obituary of Irvin Schlegel
Irvin passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side at Grey Bruce Health Services in Owen Sound, on Thursday, August 19, 2021. Born on May 16, 1935 in Hanover, Irvin John Schlegel of Owen Sound, was in his 87th year.
Dearly loved husband of Mary Teresa Schlegel (née Paupst). Loving stepfather of Michael Paupst of Barrie, Marian Bolden (George) and Brian Paupst (Agnes), both of Owen Sound. Irvin will be forever missed by his cousins, his step-grandchildren and his step-great-grandchildren who meant the world to him.
Predeceased by his parents Edward and Alma Schlegel, his brothers, Harold and Almer Schlegel and his stepson Kevin Paupst.
A visitation will be held at the Brian E. Wood Funeral Home, Owen Sound, 519-376-7492, on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. With COVID-19 restrictions guests must wear a mask, follow social distancing protocols. A funeral service to celebrate Irvin’s life will be held on Monday, August 23, 2021 at 11 a.m. with Major Gord Armstrong officiating. interment will take place in Hanover Cemetery, Hanover. Friends must register for the service by calling the funeral home or RSVP through the website. Friends are welcome to view the service via livestream on the funeral home website (woodfuneralhome.ca).
Irvin grew up on a farm so memorial donations to the Owen Sound Agricultural Society or the charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated and can be made through the funeral home. Condolences can be sent to the family by visiting Irvin’s online memorial at www.woodfuneralhome.ca.
