Obituary
It is with profound sadness and sorrow that Irvine’s family announce his peaceful passing on Friday April 30, 2021 at PRHC.
He was the beloved husband of Colleen (Bandy)
Much loved and respected dad of Brenda Adams (Ken) of Peterborough, Deborah MacLeod of Moosenee and Brent MacLeod of Bowmanville.
Dearly loved Papa of Emily (Mike) Moreau, Michael Adams (Danielle) and Kailin Wilson (Ryan), Kris and Adam MacLeod. Extra special great Papa of Michaela and Hailey Moreau and Kenley and Everly Wilson.
Irvine was born and raised on the family farm in Dunvegan. Pre deceased by his parents Dunacan and Bella and his brother Angus John. He will be dearly missed by his brother Kenzie MacLeod (Elsie) of Maxville and Christina Mae McEwen(Ken) of Ottawa and their families.
He will be missed by Colleens sisters and brothers and their families, especially Barry Prentice with whom he formed a friendship from the beginning. There wasn’t anything these 2 didn’t think of or do.
Irvine was a long time licensed electrician with Townsend Electric in Oshawa. From there he went to Guild Electric in Toronto as an electrical estimator and then became the Manager of the newly formed Traffic Division. After many years with Guild, Irvine decided to start his own business. Along with Colleen, and after some vacations in Arizona, he decided that this was where he wanted to be. He started Arcan Traffic Systems in Tempe Arizona. He realized his long time dream of boating. Eventually owning his own house boat he decided that Lake Powell would be his lake. On his retirement they settled in Pine Arizona, when he was diagnosed with Alzheimers. In October of 2019 he decided that they should come back to Canada where he would spend his final years with his children and their families. They settled in Peterborough. Irvine worked hard so that his family had a good life. He had a great sense of humour and he was always fixing, tinkering or rewiring something. He made so many friends where ever he went. He handled this disease with such grace and dignity and yet it robbed him of so much. The family would like to thank the many PSW’s for their care while he was at home especially Miranda and the GAIN clinic at PRHC for their guidance. A special thanks to the nurses and staff of C3 and Dr Crane for the great care and love they all gave him. To Lynsey Seddon of A5, we can never thank you enough for the care and compassion you gave him. You spent every chance you had with him and it meant alot to him and to us. And your visit with him before he passed away was so much appreciated.
Irvine lived a simple life, so in keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place and their will be no service.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Alzheimers Society of Canada so that they can find a cure for this disease that robs the person and their family of so much or to the Hospital for Sick Children that has been there for 3 generations of Irvine’s family.
You were the greatest husband, dad, papa and great papa that we could have ever wished for. There will be a brighter star in the sky, because he has probably rewired it.
WHEN TOMORROW STARTS WITHOUT ME
When tomorrow starts without me, please try to understand, That an angel came and called my name, and took me by the hand; The angel said my place was ready, In Heaven far above, And that I’d have to leave behind all those I dearly love. But when I walked through Heaven’s gates, I felt so much at home, for God looked down, smiled at me, And told me “Welcome Home.” So when tomorrow starts without me, Don’t think we’re far apart, for every time you think of me, I’m right there in your heart” XXOO
