KENNEY, Iris Elizabeth – It is with a heavy heart that we announce Iris’ passing, age 61, on Sunday, August 1, 2021, after a hard fought battle with cancer. Born on September 11, 1959, Iris was the seventh of ten children to the late Delma and Grace (Buckle) Ross of South Side, CSI. Iris was the most selfless caring and loving person you could find. A VON nurse by trade and at heart, she helped nurse community members back to health and comforted them in their saddest moments. Iris also had a passion for baking and could often be found in her kitchen with at least one of her beloved grandchildren, baking a yummy treat for her family or coworkers. Camping and learning to play the guitar was a few other passions of hers but, the most adored part of her life was her family—most of all her grandchildren, Liam, Brayden, Kyndal, and Greysen. Iris leaves behind the love of her life and husband of 43 years, Richard Kenney; daughter, Melissa (Shawn) Sears; son, Jeremy (Selina) Kenney; cherished, grandchildren, Liam, Brayden, Kyndal, and Greysen; as well as siblings, Earl Ross, Buttons (Lib) Ross, Paul (Louise) Ross, Calvin (Cindy Ross) Ross, Jeanne (Lowell) Kenney, Muriel (Thomas) Swim, Jeffery (Ronda) Ross, Michele (Lenny) Kendall; and many nieces and nephews. Iris is predeceased by her loving parents, Delma and Grace Ross; sister, Sandra (Dale) McKay, and beloved nephew, Raymond Kenney; and great-nephew, Adam Swim. Arrangements are under the care and direction of H. M. Huskilson’s Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Barrington. There will be a gathering for family and friends on Saturday, 2-4 p.m., at the H. M. Huskilson’s Memorial Chapel, Barrington. Covid restrictions are still in effect. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Rosalin Nickerson Care Fund or the Canadian Cancer Society.
