Born in Potters Village, Antigua on March 22, 1926, Iola passed away peacefully at The Glebe Centre on Wednesday, September 22, 2021 at the age of 95. Dearly devoted wife of the late Victor Rayne. Loving mother of Eustace “Ted” (Vera), Hubert (Doreen), Phillip, Walcott “Wally” (Cheryl), Victor (Julie), Cicely, Roland (Frances), and Edmund. Cherished grandmother of Michael, Jason, Kyla, Joel, Brenda, Kevin, Fabian, Doyle, Victoria (deceased), Shawn, Courtney,
Jessica, Jeffrey, Nikita, Vanessa, Charisse, Savannah, Brendon, Geneva, Akeem, Ashlyn. Great-grandmother of 25 and great-great-grandmother of 2. Beloved sister of Wilmott, Pamela, and Lorena. Predeceased by her parents Rosetta Benta and Johnny Roseau and other siblings. She will be fondly remembered by family and friends in Antigua, Canada, USA and UK. A special thank you to The Glebe Centre third floor staff and Pastor Jim for the exceptional care Iola received over the past 4 years. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to The Glebe Centre would be appreciated by the family.
Visitation will be held at St. Laurent Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 1200 Ogilvie Road at Aviation Parkway, Ottawa on Thursday, October 7, 2021 from 1:00-4:00 pm and 6:00-8:00 pm. The Funeral Service will be held at Community Pentecostal Church (1825 St. Joseph Blvd, Ottawa) on Friday, October 8, 2021 at 11:00 am., and will be livestreamed at the same time. Interment to follow at Beechwood Cemetery (280 Beechwood Ave, Ottawa). Following COVID-19 protocol, attendance will be limited to registered guests only.
