On February 15, 2021 with her family by her side, Inez Viola (Belding) Mawhinney went home to be with the Lord. Born Nov. 9, 1925 in Chance Harbour, NB, she was the loving, devoted wife of 57 years to the late J. Milford Mawhinney.
Survived by her three children; one son Stuart Mawhinney of Maces Bay, NB and two daughters; Marlene (Murray) Hutchings of Quispamsis and Glenda (Rocky) Cooke of Grand Bay-Westfield. Ten cherished grandchildren; Andrea, Michael, Heather, Jacob, Tifani, Linsy, Jamie, Sarah, Joslyn, and Jolene, twenty great-grandchildren, several nieces, and nephews. Inez was pre-deceased by her parents Arthur and Beatrice Belding, her husband J. Milford Mawhinney, brothers Lawrence, Clyde, Darrell and Garnet Belding, sisters Alda Belding, Doreen Anderson, twin sister Irene Earle, as well as several nephews and nieces.
Inez was very active in her church, Fundy Seaside Baptist, formerly Maces Bay United Baptist; teaching Sunday school, DVBS, doing crafts with the Pioneer girls, and Explorers. She was a Dominion life member of the Baptist Missionary group. She also served as secretary treasurer for her local church group. Inez devoted her life to her Lord, her children, grandchildren, and her loving husband, “Miff”. She was a wonderful homemaker and cook. You could find her gardening, crafting, sewing, or creating her beautiful paintings which are spread far and wide. Her most favourite time spent was walking the beaches of Welch Cove with her grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by her family and loved ones.
Arrangements are entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John. Due to the ongoing pandemic, services will be held at a later date for invited guests. Interment will take place in Maces Bay at a later date. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society, Fundy Seaside Baptist Church, Maces Bay Cemetery Fund, or a charity of one’s choice.
