Imelda Goguen-Jacob 1930 2021

Imelda Goguen-Jacob, 91, of Moncton, passed away on Tuesday
August 24, 2021 at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont UHC. Born in Cocagne, she
was the beloved daughter of the late Jaddus and
Hélène (Bourque) Goguen.
She is survived by four step-children: Bernice Warner of
Charlotte, NC, Roger Jacob (Bobbie) and Louise Ramsay (Phil), both of
Waltham, MA, and Marcel Jacob (Julie) of Atlanta, GA; eight
step-grandchildren; 12 step-great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law:
Jeannine Goguen of Cocagne and Maria Goguen of Shediac; as well as
several nieces and nephews whom she greatly loved. She was the last
surviving member of her immediate family.
She was predeceased by her husband, David Jacob (2011); three
sisters: Marguerite Després (Lucien),
Thérèse Melanson (Eudore), and Marie Doucet
(Bernard); four brothers: Désiré
(Cécile), Joseph, Roméo (Juliette) and
Adrien.
Imelda has devoted her entire life to teaching during 35
years. She held a Masters in Education from the Université
de Moncton. Her first 18 years of teaching were during her religious
life in the Congrégation Notre-Dame of Montréal.
She was then school principal for grades 1 to 12 for several years.
She was a member of the retired teachers group in Moncton, Cercle
Jacqueline-Collette, as well as the Golden Age Clubs of
Notre-Dame-de-Grâce, Cocagne and Grande-Digue. Upon her
retirement, she volunteered in pastoral care at the
Dr-Georges-L.-Dumont Hospital. She also did tutoring to help students
who struggled with learning.
She loved everything in life. She took lessons in painting,
music, gymnastics, and exercises. She loved walking and nature: the
flowers, the garden, the trees, the sea, dancing, and the birds. She
had a zest for life that brought a note of freshness around you. She
has shown great courage with illness and hardship. She will be greatly
missed.
The family will receive condolences at Frenette Funeral and
Cremation Centre, 88 Church Street, Moncton (858-1900) Friday from 2
