Member of the Order of the Eastern Star Lily of the Valley Orillia, Chapter 141
Passed away peacefully at the Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital, on Friday October 1st, 2021, at the age of 95. Ilene was born in Orillia Township; only child of the late Horace and Isabel Greenwell (nee Shelswell). Beloved wife of the late Douglas Bright. Loving mother of the late Valerie Bulloch, and stepmother of the late Catherine Lorraine Gainer. Cherished grandmother of Jacqueline and her husband Dan Shilling of Rama. Very proud great grandmother of Joshua, Patrick, and Cameron-Douglas; great great grandma of Mia-Marilyn. Ilene left her legacy over her 95 years sharing stories and touching those she met always with a warm smile. She will be dearly missed by all those that knew her especially her lifelong friend Claire Powell, dear friend Ian Bulloch who selflessly helped Ilene so that she could remain in her home, and her special cousin and lifelong friend Doreen Shelswell. Visitation will be held at the Simcoe Funeral Home, 38 James St. E Orillia on Monday October 4th from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Funeral services will be held in the chapel on Tuesday October 5th, 2021, at 11:00 am. Interment St. Andrew’s St. James’ Cemetery, Orillia.
