HELEN CHURCHMUCH (nee Sroka)
Surrounded by family, Helen passed peacefully and was welcomed into her eternal home by her faithful and loving Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ on Thursday July 1, 2021. Born February 10, 1926 to Katarzyna and Vincent Sroka. Pre-deceased by her loving husband, Jack (Jacob). She is survived by her devoted daughter, Cynthia (Pohran), son-in-law, John, grandchildren, Andrew (Christina), Kathryn, and Nadya, and her great-granddaughter, Lana, all whom will greatly miss her love, encouragement, and quiet but wise counsel. Helen will also be missed by her sister-in-law, Vernice, and her many nieces and nephews, each of whom brought her great joy. Helen lived her life with integrity, courage and compassion. She leaves a legacy of love, perseverance, and faith. At the age of 92 years, Helen bravely made the move from her lifetime home of Toronto, Ontario to be closer to her daughter and immediate family in the National Capital Region. Although Helen will be greatly missed, we take solace in this truth: “For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus. For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who are asleep. For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord. Therefore, comfort one another with these words.” (1 Thessalonians 4:14-18) The family is appreciative of the compassionate care Helen received from her physicians, Dr. Gerry Heymans and Dr. Loan Luong. We are also indebted to the staff of both the Kemptville Retirement Living Centre and Bayfield Manor (Kemptville). Each caring individual helped to make Helen’s last days on earth as comfortable and pleasant as possible. Helen’s life will be commemorated in a funeral service on Saturday, July 31 at 1 pm at the Daley Family Funeral Home (6971 Bank Street, Metcalfe, Ontario K0A 2P0). Due to provincial restrictions on attendance, invitations to the funeral will be extended personally by the immediate family. However, the funeral service will be live-streamed at www.facebook.com/DaleyFamilyFuneralHome for those who are unable to attend. Expressions of love and sympathy can be extended to the family on line at www.daleyffh.ca In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Helen’s memory to the Dundas County Hospice Centre 4353 County Road 31, Box 278, Williamsburg, ON K0C 2H0 or the Alzheimer’s Society of Canada, 20 Eglinton Ave. West, 16th Floor.
