Obituary
THIS TOO SHALL PASS
KIRSCHNER, Heidi-Sabine (Hauschildt) was born in Edmonton Alberta on November 30, 1955 and died in Kelowna on December 30, 2021. The family lived in Edmonton, Alberta. Antoinette worked at the German Consulate and Heinz was an electrical contractor. It was fun growing up to be able to swim and to go skiing regularly at Marmot Basin. When the family moved to Kelowna BC in 1968, Heidi attended and then graduated from Rutland Senior Secondary School in 1973. Heidi absolutely loved Victoria and might have stayed living there except for the fact that her future husband, Gordon lived in Kelowna. In Kelowna Gordon and Heidi lived on a small 13-acre farm, which kept them very busy.
As the kids got older Heidi discovered that the kids were all very good swimmers and put them into the Kelowna Aqua Jets Swim Club. Later, Heidi was instrumental in creating the Liquid Lightning Swim Club on the Westside. It was her passion to watch her kids swim and even more so to be able to travel a bit to go to various swim meets across the Province and Alberta. Before getting sick Gordon and Heidi were lucky to be able to take several cruises. They loved them and cruising would have become a lasting passion.
At the age of 37, Heidi discovered half of her biological family on her birthmother’s side. Dianna Malmgren (and Family), Deb Peterson (Tom and family), Ray Guckert, Terry Guckert, Clark Guckert, David Guckert, and June Guckert, all mainly residing in Alberta. Many years later Heidi found the other half of her biological family in the U.S. Paige (Paul) Harrison of Rockford, Illinois; Carey (Jodi) Chicoine of Maple Grove, Minnesota; Annette Hilsabeck of Manning, Iowa; Therese (Les) Hallengren of Rock Valley, Iowa; Alan Chicoine of Quimby, Iowa.
Heidi wished to thank her best chemo nurse, Linda and her team of cancer doctors, and her family doctor, Dr. Dawson for providing outstanding care over the last couple of years. Heidi‘s model was Carpe Diem and her favorite saying was: “This too shall pass”. There will be no service only a private scattering of the ashes and a celebratory tea to be announced at a later date.
